WOW Colorado
is a group of individuals who use Facilitated Communication.
Some members use Facilitated Communication to access
communication devices; others use letter boards. FC
partners, family members, and support staff regularly
participate--though sometimes they get asked to be quiet while
the people who speak using a machine talk!
Members have all levels of experience, from new learners to
college students. The monthly meetings are a great time
for sharing ideas, dreams, triumphs, and often frustrations
about communication.
WOW Colorado is sponsored by a grant from the Colorado
Developmental Disabilities Council. Training is available,
through a grant from the Council, for new users and new
facilitators.
WOW has also
produced two DVDs, one with short documentaries
about 5 WOW members, and another that can be used as
a training video.
